Tong-Masters Unite!
Us Saffers love to braai! Flip, we even have a national braai day! We have recipe books dedicated to just braaiing, and Jan Braai has real life groupies!
And most of us are pretty proud of what we can do around a grid … To the point that we not only want to talk about it, but show off those skills as well. And based on what we have seen on the socials, it seems that we are also keen to see what others are doing with tong in hand.
So we thought it about time we had something to harness all that braai energy!
Hence #RateMyBraai …
For the tong-masters, by the tong-masters! #RateMyBraai is a platform that facilitates user submission of braai pics via Twitter, giving our community the chance to rate each other’s flame game!
It’s as simple as that… Our aim is to bring Braai-lovers around the world together using technology.
Competitive, perhaps, but at it’s heart, we see this is a platform facilitating a braai community, where like-minded people can
gather, share images, recipes, and braai tips.
Keeping it ultra-simple, all you have to do is Tweet a pic of your braai with the hashtag #RateMyBraai in the text. That’s it. Our community then get to rate your braai, either directly via the pop on Twitter, or via the listed braais on the site.
Legend, Liefling or Loser? You choose by giving each braai 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 flames.
Why Twitter? Two primary reasons – that is where we first picked up on all this braai-banter, especially during lockdown. But also because they are particularly welcoming of API integrations that allow for the in-app rating, even though the action is happening on www.ratemybraai.co.za.
Would we like to include Instagram or any other social? Of course, and we are working on ways to make that happen. Might #ratemybraai evolve into an app or platform of it’s own? Who knows, but we are certainly up for anything spicy in the braai space!
Let’s do this together – drop us a line if you would like to comment, suggest, moan, partner, or just have a little braai banter! On Twitter @RateMyBraai, or via braaimail – hello@ratemybraai.co.za.
Looking forward to seeing your braai pics …
